For most artists, acquiring and defending legal rights are costly, and the various legal mechanisms can be complex and difficult to understand. ALAS is an excellent resource for artists who wish to understand their legal rights, protect their work, or figure out how to best proceed with legal issues or disputes.
It is important to note that ALAS lawyers can only provide summary legal advice. This means that you are not coming to ALAS to retain or hire a lawyer. Moreover, ALAS lawyers cannot draft letters or contracts for you, and cannot represent you in court. Please note also that ALAS does not qualify as “Independent Legal Advice” (ILA). If you have been advised to seek ILA, you must obtain it elsewhere. Our service is better understood as a great “first step” to addressing your legal problem.
